In Dnipropetrovsk region, in the city of Samara, a rather rare specimen of snake has been spotted - the steppe viper, which is listed in the Red Book, reports "Vidomo," citing the group "Frogs, Lizards, and Snakes" on Facebook.
According to specialists, the steppe viper is small in size (up to 50 cm in length), with a light gray or yellowish coloration and a distinct zigzag pattern on its back.
These snakes typically avoid contact with humans but are often seen in fields. The viper is non-aggressive and will bite only if threatened. Its venom is less dangerous than that of many other viper species, but a bite can cause a localized reaction.
