The German government has allocated €65 million for the repair of Ukraine's energy system.

Германия выделила €65 млн на восстановление энергетической инфраструктуры Украины.

"The civil energy infrastructure of Ukraine continues to be the target of massive aerial strikes from Russia. The collapse of energy supply in the third winter of the war would have catastrophic consequences for the economy and the population of Ukraine. Therefore, supporting Ukraine is more crucial than ever," stated German Minister of Economy Robert Habeck.

According to him, this is how Germany is contributing to ensure that "people in Ukraine have electricity and heating."

The funds will be allocated to the "Energy Support Fund for Ukraine." With this money, Ukraine will be able to pay for equipment and spare parts necessary for the repair of damaged facilities. Part of the contributions will be directed towards strengthening the resilience of Ukraine's energy system and ensuring its autonomy. Specifically, this includes projects for transitioning schools and hospitals to "green" energy, equipping them with photovoltaic systems and batteries.

Since 2022, numerous donors have contributed to the "Energy Support Fund for Ukraine." According to the ministry's website, Germany is the largest among them. In 2023, the Federal Republic of Germany transferred €155 million to the fund, and by the end of 2024, this amount is expected to reach €350 million. Since the onset of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Germany has provided approximately €629 million to support the Ukrainian energy sector.
