According to Blinken, the Alliance currently wants to ensure that Ukraine has the financial resources necessary to support the country's economy and its defense.
"We have managed to secure $50 billion for Ukraine based on frozen Russian assets, which will be released in the coming weeks from both the U.S. and Europe. This will provide Ukraine with financial support for a certain period next year," the Secretary of State stated.
On December 3, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law No. 12232 in its entirety, which provides for amendments to the Budget Code regarding the country's debt obligations. In particular, this law is needed to "legalize" the receipt of a $50 billion loan from G7 countries and the European Union, explained the head of the budget committee, Roksolana Pidlasa.
