A Frenchman who invited others to assault his wife has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

According to the verdict, 72-year-old Peliko has been found guilty of rape under aggravating circumstances and all other charges brought against him. The court imposed the maximum possible sentence.

Peliko, along with several other defendants, admitted his guilt. In addition to Peliko, there are 50 individuals involved in the case: men of various ages, professions, and races. For ten years, they entered Peliko's home and raped his sleeping wife. Dominic recorded these acts on camera. He was married to Gisele, who is now 72 years old, for fifty years.

The police discovered the video recordings in 2020 after Peliko was arrested in a supermarket for upskirting—secretly filming women under their skirts. During the investigation, two phones and a laptop were confiscated from him, revealing more than 20,000 videos and photos in which he and other men raped Gisele. The recordings included 72 rapists, but not all could be identified. Those who were identified were brought to trial, and today, December 19, they were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to 15 years.

The courage of Gisele Peliko, who chose to forgo anonymity and seek a public trial for the rapists, has sparked a discussion about women's safety in France—both at the national level and personally, notes AP. Outside the courthouse where the hearings are taking place, activists displayed a large banner reading "Merci Gisele" – "Thank you, Gisele".
