Bezos's company has launched the new heavy rocket "New Glenn."

The launch took place from a spaceport in Florida. Thirteen minutes after liftoff, according to the flight plan, the rocket successfully deployed the cargo module into orbit. Simultaneously, the planned attempt to land the rocket's first stage on a floating platform in the Atlantic Ocean was unsuccessful.

Commentators note that this project has the potential to compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX rockets. Bezos has stated that this is not about competitive rivalry. Musk congratulated Jeff Bezos on the successful launch via his social network X.

The flight is being broadcast on the website of Blue Origin.

The rocket is named after John Glenn - the first U.S. astronaut to complete an orbital space flight in 1962. It stands 98 meters tall and can carry up to 45 tons of cargo to low Earth orbit. SpaceX's "Starship" is more powerful, with a height of 123 meters. NASA hopes that it will be used for the planned missions to send astronauts to the Moon. Blue Origin, on the other hand, is preparing a landing module for the lunar mission.
