Russian military bloggers, citing their sources from the front, claim that other villages and hamlets in the Kursk region have also been taken. Given the active combat conditions, it is impossible to verify these reports promptly. The Ukrainian project DeepState, which monitors changes in the front line, acknowledged the advance of Russian troops in Pogrebki.
This village is located at the very northern edge of the territory occupied by Ukrainian forces during the offensive launched last August. Fighting for it lasted several months, and military bloggers regularly reported on its capture. However, these reports were not subsequently confirmed. This time, however, a video has been released showing that Russian forces have control over at least the central part of the village.
In general, Ukrainian sources acknowledge that Russian troops are increasing pressure from both the north and northwest, attempting to capture Malaya Loknya, as well as from the west, where they are trying to disrupt supply along the only main highway connecting Ukraine with the area controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sudzha, Kursk region.
Ukrainian forces have held hundreds of square kilometers of the Kursk region for over six months. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that this territory could be used in peace negotiations – in his opinion, Russia might agree to exchange it for territories in Ukraine occupied by Russia. Russian authorities claim that they intend to completely drive the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of the region.
