Another topic of discussion between Sandu and Zelensky was regional security and the latest developments on the Ukrainian front. The President of Moldova reaffirmed her support for Ukraine, which is defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as peace in Moldova.
In his evening address on January 8, Zelensky confirmed the phone conversation that took place with President Sandu.
The energy situation in Moldova, especially on the left bank of the Dniester, represents an attempt by Russia to manipulate energy resources against the authorities in Moldova," Zelensky stated. He expressed Ukraine's readiness to assist Moldova, particularly with coal.
