Stefanishina referred to the cyberattack as the largest in recent times. "It is now clear that the attack was carried out by Russians with the aim of disrupting the operation of the country's critical infrastructure," she wrote.
As a result, the Unified and State Registers, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, ceased to function. It will take approximately two weeks to restore their operation.
Yesterday, on December 19, the Ministry of Justice reported a significant failure at the network infrastructure level servicing the registers. The hacking group XakNet Team, which has a Russian flag in its channel name, claimed responsibility for the breach. The hackers stated that they downloaded all databases (over thirty registers) and deleted them from the servers.
The previous major attack on Ukrainian government resources occurred in January 2022.
