Trump referred to the resource deal as a guarantee for Ukraine.

Трамп охарактеризовал сделку по ресурсам как гарантию для Украины.

According to Trump, Ukraine's security will be ensured by a deal between countries regarding natural resources, which he hopes to sign on Friday during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Washington and Kyiv will sign a natural resources agreement during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump stated. He mentioned that matters with Ukraine and Russia are going "very well." He expressed confidence in reaching a peace deal.

Separately, Trump reiterated that Ukraine will not join the NATO alliance. He also stated that Moscow will have to make concessions.

Reuters writes that the deal, in which Kyiv will transfer part of its mineral resource revenues to a fund controlled by the U.S., is central to Ukraine's efforts to secure strong support from Trump.

The U.S. President confirmed that Zelensky will visit Washington on Friday to sign the agreement on rare earth metals and other topics. At the same time, Trump noted that the U.S. does not plan to provide Ukraine with far-reaching security guarantees.

Kyiv is seeking U.S. security guarantees as part of the deal, which Trump describes as Kyiv's payment for American assistance during the war.

Zelensky emphasized that the most important thing is for the current project not to portray Ukraine as a debtor that will have to repay hundreds of billions of dollars for past military aid.

A copy of the draft agreement, reviewed by Reuters and dated February 25, states: “The government of the United States of America supports Ukraine's efforts to obtain the necessary security guarantees for establishing lasting peace.”
