The identification procedure confirmed the deaths of Shiri Bibas's children – Ariel, who was four years old at the time of the capture, and his brother Kfir, who was nine months old. They were brutally killed in captivity in November 2023, according to a statement.
Israel accuses Hamas of serious violations of the agreement and demands the return of Shiri Bibas along with the other hostages.
The transfer of bodies took place the day before. Representatives of Hamas, designated as a terrorist organization in the U.S. and EU, stated that these were Shiri Bibas, her young sons Ariel and Kfir, as well as adult hostage Oded Lifshitz. The group accused Israel of the deaths of its citizens.
The IDF initially confirmed that the bodies received belonged to the deceased hostages, but did so before the official identification procedure – and apologized to the Bibas family.
