Participants of the funeral procession began to gather on Wednesday morning in Ramat Gan, located in central Israel, with the final destination being Sha'ar HaNegev at the Gaza border, reports The Times of Israel.
The Bibas family issued a statement expressing their deep gratitude to everyone who came and regret that Shiri's widower and father of Ariel and Kfir, Yarden Bibas, is unable to personally embrace each person who came to say goodbye.
The fate of the Bibas family has become a symbol of the brutality of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, for Israeli society. Shiri Bibas, her husband Yarden, and their young sons Ariel and Kfir were abducted during the massacre at Kibbutz Nir Oz, while Shiri's parents were killed on the spot.
Hamas later claimed that Shiri and her children, who were taken hostage, died under Israeli bombardments from Gaza. Authorities and residents are convinced that they were killed.
Yarden Bibas was released as part of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Last week, the group handed over the bodies of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir to the Israeli side.
