Pope Francis has been diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia.

As noted in a new report, on February 18, the pontiff underwent a CT scan, which revealed the onset of pneumonia. The new diagnosis necessitated additional medication therapy, as stated by Francis' press service.

Last week, on February 14, the head of the Roman Catholic Church was hospitalized at the Gemelli Clinic in Rome. It was later revealed that he is suffering from a polymicrobial respiratory infection and will remain in the hospital for an "indeterminate period."

On Tuesday, his associates assured that despite the illness, Francis "remains in good spirits."
