Employees of a research institute are suspected in the attack on the Russian consulate in Marseille.

This was reported to the France Presse agency by the prosecutor's office. It is noted that one of the suspects works as an engineer at the institute, while the other is a chemist. According to Reuters, citing the prosecutor, the suspects are citizens of France. The institute employs individuals from various countries, including Russia and Ukraine.

Three bottles containing an explosive mixture were thrown over the fence of the Russian consulate in Marseille on the morning of February 24. Two of them exploded without causing damage to the consulate building. No one was injured. The Russian Foreign Ministry labeled the incident a terrorist act, while French authorities condemned any breaches of security at diplomatic missions.

Local media reported that the two suspects were detained later that evening during a rally in support of Ukraine in Marseille. BFMTV reports that the suspects were identified through footage from surveillance cameras taken on Monday morning when the attack on the consulate occurred. It is still unclear what charges have been brought against them and whether any preventive measures have been imposed.
