Duodecillion is a unit with 39 zeros. The total amount of claims already exceeds the GDP of the entire world and doubles every week until the corporation complies with the court's ruling.
Seventeen pro-Kremlin TV channels have filed lawsuits against Google. The first to approach the court were "Tsargrad" and RIA FAN in 2020, whose owners have been under US sanctions since 2014. The remaining channels were blocked on YouTube after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A Russian court demanded that the corporation lift the ban, but Google did not comply.
In June 2022, the Russian legal entity of the "Google" corporation filed for bankruptcy when the amount of fines exceeded 19 billion rubles and its bank account was frozen. The court declared "Google" bankrupt a year and a half later.
Expert Denis Polyakov, who spoke with RBC, believes that the legal battles "will continue until sanctions are lifted and attempts are made for Google to return to the Russian market." At that point, a settlement may be reached, and Google might pay minor compensations in exchange for dropping the current lawsuits.
