Residents of several states in the U.S. received racist letters.

According to BBC, among the recipients of the letters were students from schools and colleges in Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania.

A BBC correspondent, having reviewed the content of some messages, notes that they typically contain "recommendations" for recipients regarding work on plantations or advice to "wait for a ride" and find a place to work under "slave" labor conditions. The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist messages sent to addresses in various states and is in contact with the Department of Justice and other federal agencies regarding this matter, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported.

The mailing likely began on Wednesday, the day after the presidential election. Some messages mentioned Donald Trump's election campaign. Trump campaign representatives categorically deny any connection to the organizers of the mailing, as noted in the BBC publication.
