A plane crash in South Sudan has claimed the lives of 20 individuals.

The aircraft reportedly carried oil workers and crashed soon after taking off from an oil field in the northern part of the country, heading to the capital, Juba.

The field is being developed by Chinese and South Sudanese state companies. Among the deceased are two Chinese nationals and one Indian citizen.

There were 21 people on board, including passengers and pilots. One individual survived but sustained severe injuries. The causes of the crash are still unknown.
