Zelensky will participate in a Ramstein-format meeting on Thursday.

The contact group at the level of defense ministers and military commanders is set to discuss the strategy for further support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression. Primarily, President Zelensky stated that the discussions will focus on enhancing air defense and repelling attacks from Russian aviation, as well as coalition plans for 2025.

According to Associated Press, the United States intends to announce a substantial military aid package for Ukraine—the final one during the tenure of current President Joe Biden, who will leave office on January 20. The exact amount remains unknown, but sources indicate it will be no less than two billion dollars.

The "Ramstein" format may undergo significant changes in the coming year. Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak suggested that the January meeting could be the last in this format. Once a new administration led by Donald Trump takes office in the U.S., it may propose a different approach to international support for Ukraine.

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group was established at the initiative of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. He will also attend the meeting on Thursday to participate for the last time in his capacity as head of the Pentagon.
