Since July 2022, Alexey Gorinov has been serving a seven-year sentence under the "fake news" law regarding the Russian army for his anti-war speech at a meeting of the deputies of the Krasnoselsky district. On November 29, 2024, the court sentenced him to three years in a penal colony for justifying terrorism. In total, the politician will spend another five years in a strict regime colony, which is one year longer than the initial sentence.
On January 13, 2019, an attack was carried out on Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz during a charity concert. The assailant stabbed him multiple times, explaining his actions as revenge against the "Civic Platform" party, one of the founders of which was the politician. The next day, Adamowicz died in the hospital. Adamowicz led Gdańsk – the city where the "Solidarity" movement began in the 1970s.
