Biden has directed the Pentagon to expedite the delivery of weapons to Ukraine.

"In the early hours of Christmas, Russia launched a series of missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities and critical energy infrastructure. The aim of this outrageous attack is to deprive the Ukrainian people of heat and electricity during winter and to jeopardize the security of the energy system," stated Biden in a release from the White House.

In recent months, the United States has supplied Ukraine with hundreds of missiles for air defense. According to Biden, even more are on the way.

On Wednesday morning, Russia targeted Ukraine's energy system and cities with cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as drones. According to regional leaders in Ukraine, at least six people were injured in Kharkiv and one person was killed in Dnipropetrovsk region as a result of the strikes.
