"North Korea is already receiving Russian military equipment and assistance in training its military personnel," Blinken emphasized. "Now we have reason to believe that Moscow intends to share advanced space and satellite technologies with Pyongyang."
Experts from the West warn that with these technologies, North Korea will be able to identify targets within the territory of its potential adversaries around the globe.
Earlier reports indicated that Russia had offered North Korea assistance in launching and creating satellites in exchange for supplies of North Korean artillery shells, which are being used by the Russian army during its invasion of Ukraine. Following a single successful launch of a reconnaissance satellite into orbit in November 2023, several attempts by North Korea to launch similar satellites last year ended in failure.
Anthony Blinken also stated that Russia may recognize North Korea as a nuclear power.
