Brazil announced Indonesia's accession to BRICS.

Jakarta announced its readiness to join BRICS at the summit in Kazan in October. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world, but its economy is currently not even in the top ten largest.

This is the first country from Southeast Asia to achieve full membership. Since January, Malaysia and Thailand have become partner countries of the organization. It was previously reported that Indonesia was also expected to attain this status. Jakarta has not commented on this yet.
