Faithfull rose to fame at the age of 18 when she met Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham and subsequently the band's leader Mick Jagger, with whom she developed a romantic relationship. In 1964, Jagger and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards wrote the song As Tears Go By for Faithfull, which instantly became a hit and topped the charts in both the UK and the US.
Later, Faithfull recorded more than twenty studio albums. The singer collaborated with numerous global music stars, including Lou Reed, Damon Albarn, Nick Cave, and PJ Harvey. The Rolling Stones dedicated several songs to Faithfull.
