A Czech journalist was denied entry to Georgia after previously covering protests in the country.

Чешского журналиста не пропустили в Грузию из-за его освещения протестов в стране.

"After 34 hours of unlawful detention at Tbilisi airport without any communication with the outside world, I am safe at Warsaw airport," – wrote Baisley this morning, October 24.

The journalist arrived in Tbilisi on October 22 as a freelance correspondent for Kyiv Independent to cover the parliamentary elections taking place in Georgia this Saturday. Within a few hours, Baisley was issued a standard entry denial "for other reasons," as indicated in the document he published himself. According to the Georgian service of Radio Free Europe, the lawyer was unable to meet with the journalist.

Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, several independent journalists, human rights defenders, Russian activists, and opposition politicians have been denied entry to Georgia – also "for other reasons."
