El Al has extended the suspension of flights to Moscow until the end of March.

"Эль-Аль" продлила остановку рейсов в Москву до конца марта.

On December 26, flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow were canceled for a week due to the crash of an "Azerbaijan Airlines" plane, which reportedly came under fire from Russian air defense while approaching Grozny.

On December 25, an AZAL aircraft, operating a flight from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. There were 67 people on board, including crew members. A total of 38 individuals lost their lives.

Sources within the Azerbaijani government informed Euronews and Reuters that the plane sustained damage, likely from Russian air defense actions during the repulsion of a drone attack on Grozny, and was redirected to land in Kazakhstan's Aktau. The pilots managed to cross the Caspian Sea, but the aircraft crashed while attempting to land.

On December 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and offered his apologies. Aliyev stated that Russia must acknowledge its responsibility for the plane crash, those at fault should be held accountable, and Moscow should provide compensation to Baku, as well as to the affected passengers and crew members.

Following the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft, flights to 10 cities in Russia were suspended. According to Ilham Aliyev, flights to Grozny are unlikely to resume.

It is known that Kazakhstan's Qazaq Air has suspended flights from Astana to Yekaterinburg. The airline FlyDubai has halted operations to Sochi and Mineralnye Vody. The airline "Turkmenistan" has canceled regular flights on the Ashgabat — Moscow route until January 31, 2025.
