The European Union has imposed tariffs on agricultural products and fertilizers from Russia.

Евросоюз ввел тарифы на сельскохозяйственные товары и удобрения, импортируемые из России.

The goal of the measure is to reduce dependence on imports of Russian and Belarusian products and to mitigate risks to food security, as stated in an announcement by the European Commission.

The tariffs are intended to decrease Russia's export revenues and weaken its capacity to conduct warfare, while also encouraging the growth of domestic production within the EU.

Transit of agricultural products and fertilizers through the European Union to third countries will remain unchanged, including regulations on transportation, storage, insurance, and financing.

In May of last year, the European Union imposed prohibitive tariffs on Russian and Belarusian grains and oilseeds. In November, the EU Council on External Trade supported the expansion of tariffs to other types of food and fertilizers.
