IIHF has extended the suspension of the Russian national ice hockey team.

A decision was made during the meeting of the executive committee of the international federation. It can be reconsidered if the war in Ukraine ceases. Pavel Bure, a former hockey player from Russia who attended the meeting, stated that the suspension will be appealed in court.

The national teams of Russia and Belarus have been banned from international tournaments following the onset of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The teams have already missed three World Championships and are likely to miss the Winter Olympics in Italy in 2026.
