1. Using steam inhalation. Hot steam helps to moisten the nasal passages and ease breathing. Add a few drops of eucalyptus or peppermint essential oil to hot water, cover yourself with a towel, and inhale the steam for 5-10 minutes.
2. Nasal irrigation with saline solution. This method is effective for clearing nasal passages of mucus and allergens. You can use a ready-made solution from the pharmacy or make it at home: mix half a teaspoon of salt with a glass of warm boiled water.
3. Facial acupressure. Gently massage the areas around the nostrils, bridge of the nose, and under the eyes. This improves blood circulation and helps reduce congestion.
4. Using a warm compress. Apply a warm compress to your nose or forehead. The heat helps to dilate blood vessels and facilitates mucus drainage.
5. Maintaining humidity in the air. Dry air can worsen the condition of the mucous membranes. Use a humidifier or simply place a bowl of water near the radiator.
6. Proper body position. Sleep with your head elevated or sit up if your nasal congestion is severe. This can help reduce pressure in the sinuses and ease breathing.
Experts emphasize that if you experience chronic nasal congestion, you should consult a doctor to rule out allergies or other conditions such as polyps or sinusitis.
“Timely treatment is the key to comfort and health,” notes an otolaryngologist.
