Among those included are television host Vladimir Pozner, Russian Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev and his wife Anna Tsivileva, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia and niece of President Vladimir Putin. Also under sanctions is the Kremlin-affiliated ANO "Dialogue," spreading propaganda fakes about the war in Ukraine, along with its director Vladimir Tabak, the "Internet Development Institute," which censors political statements made by Russians on social media, the Chechen Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation, the international children's center "Artek," "Russian Copper Company," the Russian Aerospace Forces, and the troops for radiation, chemical, and biological protection.
In addition to Russian entities, the sanctions list includes companies from Iran, China, and Cyprus, which Canada considers connected to Russia.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that the sanctions list should also include 109 tankers from the "shadow fleet" that transport Russian petroleum products to foreign recipients, bypassing international sanctions.
