Klichko awarded cash prizes to Kyiv residents who medaled at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

Кличко наградил денежными премиями киевлян, ставших призерами Олимпиады и Паралимпиады в Париже.

"Sports organizations in the city, athletes, coaches, and specialists in physical culture and sports have put in significant effort to prepare and participate in the world's major competitions. The residents of Kyiv showcased exceptional athletic skill and determination to win – the Ukrainian flag was raised in their honor twice. This Olympics saw 140 athletes compete in 26 sports for the glory of our nation. Among them, 42 athletes from Kyiv fought for medals across 15 sports," noted the mayor of the capital.

This year, Kyiv has increased its financial rewards, reports the Kyiv City State Administration. Specifically, athletes received almost 2.5 million UAH from the city for gold medals, over 1.2 million UAH for bronze, and 186 thousand UAH for fifth and sixth places. Their coaches also received monetary bonuses.

Out of the 12 medals won by the Ukrainian team at the last Olympics, one gold medal was claimed by Kyiv's Olga Kharlan and Yulia Bakastova (saber fencing, team events). Two bronze medals were earned by Olga Kharlan (saber fencing, individual events) and Irina Gerashchenko (athletics, high jump). Additionally, Ukrainian athletes secured fifth and sixth places as well.

"The fact that Ukrainians are champions has been proven, in particular, by our Olympians. Thank you for your professionalism and determination to win; I know how challenging victories in sports can be. Glory to Ukraine and to those who bring it honor!" emphasized Klitschko.
