Mathematician and blogger Mikhail Verbitsky has been placed on the wanted list.

On January 10th, it was reported that Verbitsky has been added to the list of terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring.

Mikhail Verbitsky was known in the 2000s as a prominent figure in the Russian-speaking segment of the internet. He maintained a popular blog on "LiveJournal" under the nickname tiphareth and created his own blogging platform - lj.rossia.org. A mathematician, he studied in the USA and taught at the Faculty of Mathematics of the Higher School of Economics. Since the mid-2010s, he has lived abroad.

In his blog, the mathematician sharply criticizes the Russian authorities and opposes the war with Ukraine. "Now it is clear to me that I was a complete idiot for returning to the RF in 1995 after graduate school," – it is stated in one of his publications. In March 2024, Verbitsky wrote about the torture of suspects in the terrorist attack at the "Crocus City Hall" in the Moscow region, with quotes cited by "Current Time."
