The U.S. Treasury Department has accused hackers linked to China of breaching its systems.

Минфин США заявил, что хакеры, связанные с Китаем, взломали его системы.

According to available information, the breach was carried out by the Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) group. This is mentioned in a letter sent by the Treasury Department to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.

A representative from the Treasury, who spoke to "Voice of America" on the condition of anonymity, stated that hackers gained access to the working computers of department employees by compromising a third-party cybersecurity service provider, BeyondTrust.

According to the letter, the U.S. Treasury became aware of the breach on December 8 and immediately contacted law enforcement and support services. It is noted that, at this time, there is no information indicating that hackers still have access to the Treasury's computer network.

In accordance with the department's policy, any breach related to the APT hacking group is considered a "serious cybersecurity incident."
