Moldova will lend 3 million cubic meters of gas to Transnistria, according to the Prime Minister.

Премьер-министр сообщил, что Молдова предоставит Приднестровью в долг 3 миллиона кубометров газа.

According to him, the decision was developed in collaboration with the European Commission in response to the crisis caused by the unjustified cessation of gas supplies to the Transnistrian region by the Russian monopoly "Gazprom".

Rechan stated that Moldova, with the support of the EU, is securing a loan for the immediate provision of 3 million m³ of gas to the residents of the left bank of the Dniester.

"This measure is necessary to maintain critical pressure in the pipelines in the Transnistrian region, ensuring that the distribution network remains operational at least until January 31, 2025," wrote the Moldovan Prime Minister.

Additionally, the European Union will provide €30 million in the form of a grant for the purchase of natural gas for electricity generation at the Moldovan GRES for the right bank, as well as to meet the needs of the Transnistrian region from February 1 to 10.

The government of Moldova and the EU are also working on a two-year aid package to strengthen the energy resilience of the entire country, Rechan added.

"This is our proposal for the Transnistrian region to prevent a humanitarian crisis. Since January 1, Russia has deliberately left more than 350,000 citizens on the left bank of the Dniester in cold and darkness. However, the government, together with European and Ukrainian partners, has found solutions to protect all citizens. The EU once again demonstrates that it is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. In the long term, this agreement also means lower prices for residents of the right bank of the Dniester," the Moldovan Prime Minister concluded.
