This winter in Dnipropetrovsk region has proven to be particularly treacherous. The unusually thin layer of ice on the rivers, with thickness barely reaching a few centimeters in some areas, poses a deadly risk. The low level of public awareness about the real dangers associated with walking on such ice leads to tragic consequences. Social media is filled with reports of people who have fallen through the ice, as reported by "Vidomo".

One of the latest incidents occurred in the city of Samara (formerly known as Novomoskovsk), where two teenagers became victims of a stroll on fragile ice. The situation followed a typical scenario: the thin ice crust could not support their weight, and the boys found themselves in icy water.

Rescuers pulled the teenagers from the water, but the time spent in the freezing conditions can lead to serious health issues, including hypothermia and frostbite.

Not long before, information emerged on social media about a local daredevil from Dnipro - a teenager risked his life for a video, walking onto the ice of a canal in the Frunzensky district, filming himself and claiming that someone had fallen through the ice the day before.

It is important to note that the thickness of ice depends on various factors: air temperature, river current speed, presence of snow cover, water depth, and the existence of under-ice heat sources. Even if the ice appears to be strong enough, its reliability can be deceptive.
