For the first time in Formula 1, a woman will serve as a race engineer.

Müller will mentor the newcomer to the team, 28-year-old Esteban Ocon. The race engineer serves as the primary link between the driver and their team. Müller will communicate with Ocon via radio, which is typically audible during broadcasts, lead the team of engineers working on his car, and oversee the driver's overall performance on the track.

"We don't care about nationality or gender – it doesn't matter, because what truly counts is the work. How you can fit into the team, how you can achieve the best results," says Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu.

Müller, who is currently 33 years old, graduated from the Technical University of Munich, where she earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in automotive engineering before starting her career in motorsport. She joined the Haas team in 2022.

"What she really excels at is finding solutions to problems and her unwillingness to settle for the first answer," Komatsu noted among other things, adding that he is impressed by Müller's determination.

• In the 75-year history of "Formula 1," there have only been five female drivers. The last time women participated in the championship was in 1992. Since then, they have only been included as test drivers and on simulators.
