On the night of January 2, the sky above Dnipro was illuminated by the northern lights, reports "Vydomo" citing "Trukha Dnipro".
The northern lights are a rare atmospheric phenomenon typically observed in the northern regions of the Earth. They occur as a result of the interaction between solar wind and the planet's magnetic field.
In Ukraine, such an event is accompanied by a geomagnetic storm classified as G4. This is the second most powerful storm on the NOAA scale. It occurs up to 100 times during an 11-year solar cycle. The only stronger storms are G5, which happen only 4 times in a cycle.
Previously, we reported that on the night of August 13, the northern lights were visible in the sky over Dnipropetrovsk region.
