Ukraine's Office of the Prosecutor General reports that Russian forces shot and killed six captured Ukrainian soldiers.

Генеральная прокуратура Украины сообщает, что российские военные расстреляли шесть украинских солдат, взятых в плен.

"According to preliminary data, during the assault on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, the occupiers captured six servicemen of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and subsequently executed them," – stated the agency.

Earlier, a video was published on social media, which allegedly shows Russian soldiers shooting automatic weapons at the backs of six individuals – presumably Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered. Before this, they were ordered to "lie down and shut up." The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Lubinets, noted that "the occupiers have recorded their own crime on the video."

There has been no response from the Russian side regarding this information.

Previously, the Office of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General confirmed that the number of killings of prisoners of war by Russians is increasing each month. In October and November, the prosecutor's office opened 13 cases regarding the murders of 54 Ukrainian prisoners, which constitutes one-third of all such cases in 2024, reports "Ukrainian Truth".

  • Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukrainian territory, the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has initiated nearly 170,000 criminal cases concerning war crimes and crimes against national security. The overwhelming majority of these cases, almost 145,000, are related to violations of the laws and customs of war. These include the killings of prisoners of war by Russian army personnel, as well as the mistreatment of captives and the use of weapons prohibited by international law.
