"Regarding gas. As we discussed with [Azerbaijani President] Ilham Aliyev in Switzerland, his current production is quite substantial – around 40 billion cubic meters, of which he uses, I believe, about 14-15. This means his export capacity is significant – Azerbaijan's export capabilities today are 25 billion cubic meters. We talked with him about the possibility of exporting [through Ukraine]. He exports his gas to many countries. We can utilize our infrastructure if other countries in Eastern Europe actually need gas, rather than Russian gas," said Zelensky.
At the same time, the President of Ukraine emphasized that there would be no extension of the contract for the export of Russian gas.
"We are not violating anything legally, and morally – we are absolutely right. Both legally and morally. And we are not allowing Russians to profit. Allowing Azerbaijanis to benefit from their production – we have excellent relations, happily. Helping Slovakia and other countries – gladly. If it’s not about Russian gas. That is what we can do quickly. We can sign a contract and set everything up swiftly," Zelensky noted.
