The Prime Minister of Moldova has instructed the preparation for the nationalization of "Moldovagaz," in which "Gazprom" holds a controlling stake.

Премьер-министр Молдовы дал указание подготовить национализацию "Молдовагаза", контрольный пакет акций которого принадлежит "Газпрому".

On December 28, "Gazprom" notified its subsidiary "Moldovagaz" about the termination of gas supplies starting from the new year, citing unpaid debts.

On the same day, Rechan stated that Moldova "does not recognize any so-called debt that has been deemed invalid by an international audit," threatening "Gazprom" with international arbitration.

On December 30, during a government meeting, Rechan instructed the Minister of Justice to prepare legislative changes that would facilitate the nationalization of the "Moldovagaz" company.

"In recent days, we have seen politicians blaming our own country for problems created by external factors. While we should unite and show solidarity, they are trying to pressure the government to force citizens to pay a non-existent debt of over $700 million," wrote the head of government on Facebook. – "Right now, we are talking about patriotism, about our country, about dignity and faith. In this regard, I have asked the Minister of Justice to review the legislation on nationalization so that we can reclaim strategic assets that were taken by force and blackmail."
