According to local authorities, a total of 11 bombs were dropped. A five-story building was destroyed. Rescuers retrieved the body of a deceased man from the rubble.
Last night, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Ukraine was attacked by 72 Russian drones. Ukrainian air defense systems destroyed 47 attack drones across the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions. An additional 24 drones were lost locally, "without negative consequences," stated the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Local authorities did not report any possible damage or casualties.
On New Year's Eve, Russian military forces launched 111 drones at Ukraine. In Kyiv, as a result of a drone strike on a residential building in the Pechersk district, two people were killed – neurobiologist Igor Zima and his wife. Igor Zima was a Doctor of Biological Sciences and taught at the Institute of Biology and Medicine of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The scientist researched the mechanisms of human cognitive brain activity, emotions, attention, and decision-making systems.
