In "Gazprom," it is claimed that JSC "Moldovagaz" allegedly refuses to settle its debt for gas supplies.
In this regard, "Gazprom" has sent a notification to "Moldovagaz" stating that this constitutes a "significant breach" of the contract.
"As a result, based on the provisions of the contract and applicable norms of Russian legislation, PJSC 'Gazprom' will impose restrictions on natural gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova to 0 cubic meters per day starting from 8:00 AM Moscow time on January 1, 2025," the statement reads.
Additionally, the Russian monopoly threatened to unilaterally terminate the contract and reserve the right to demand from JSC "Moldovagaz" "compensation for all losses and payment of penalties for non-fulfillment of contractual obligations."
JSC "Moldovagaz" has acknowledged the decision of PJSC "Gazprom" to restrict natural gas supplies to Moldova starting January 1, 2025, according to a statement from the Moldovan company on Facebook.
"It should be noted that since December 2022, all natural gas supplied by PJSC 'Gazprom' in the amount of 5.7 million m³ per day has been delivered to JSC 'Moldovagaz' in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, natural gas for consumers on the right bank of the Dniester has been purchased on regional and European markets," the statement indicates.
JSC "Moldovagaz" added that it has contracted the necessary volumes of gas that "will fully cover all consumption on the right bank" until the end of March 2025.
