"The United States will provide Ukraine with up to $20 billion in additional aid. This is part of a broader support package from G7 countries and the EU totaling $50 billion. The funds will be sourced from revenues generated by frozen Russian assets. [...] The funds from partners will address Ukraine's critical financial needs in 2025," he stated.
The head of the Ukrainian government emphasized that through this assistance, Kyiv's allies "are building a solid foundation for Ukraine's economic and financial stability."
Shmyhal highlighted that similar decisions were recently made by the United Kingdom and the European Union (the European Parliament approved the allocation of funds, but the procedure still needs to be finalized by the EU Council).
"Thank you to the United States for their support. This is a significant investment in the security of Europe and the entire world," the Prime Minister declared.
The announcement of the $20 billion loan from the United States to Ukraine was made today by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden.
The White House leader, commenting on the matter, stated that "tyrants will be held accountable for the damage they have caused", referring to the illegitimate president of the aggressor nation, Russia, Vladimir Putin.
