Russian Telegram channels are publishing video footage of a fire, allegedly occurring at a facility.
Later, the governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, stated that "a fire broke out at one enterprise due to falling debris," without mentioning the oil refinery. Preliminary reports indicate that no one was injured.
The Russian Ministry of Defense mentioned the Ryazan region in a report about repelling drone attacks, claiming that two of them were shot down over this area.
The military department of Russia reported that 16 drones were downed over the Oryol region, three over Bryansk, and one over the annexed Crimea.
Earlier, reports of attacks on the factory in Ryazan were made on January 24 and 26. The first attack targeted both the refinery itself and the nearby Novo-Ryazan CHPP.
The second attack on January 26 was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who reported explosions and a fire at the facility, which is said to produce diesel and jet fuel for the Russian army.
The ASTRA publication calculated that over the past year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked 27 fuel and energy facilities within Russia. Most strikes were carried out using drones, but missiles were also employed. The Ryazan refinery and a fuel depot in the Voronezh region have been targeted multiple times.
The Ryazan refinery was commissioned in 1960 and is currently under the control of "Rosneft."
