TikTok could cease operations in the U.S. on January 19.

“The statements released today by the White House and the Department of Justice did not provide the necessary clarity and confidence for service providers, who are essential to maintaining the accessibility of TikTok for over 170 million Americans,” the service stated.

Earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to overturn a law that allows for a ban on TikTok if the social network is not separated from the Chinese company ByteDance. The document will take effect on January 19, just one day before Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Trump has promised to “save TikTok,” for instance, by negotiating its sale to American buyers. Additionally, yesterday, January 17, Trump held a call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping – among other topics, they discussed TikTok, as reported by the U.S. president-elect without further details.
