Trump met with Italian Prime Minister Meloni.

Трамп провел встречу с премьер-министром Италии Джорджией Мелони.

The Bloomberg Agency notes that Meloni met with Trump a few days before the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, travels to Rome. He is expected to arrive in Italy on January 9 – marking Biden's last trip in office. Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20, when he will resume his duties as president after a four-year hiatus. During his visit, Biden is expected to meet with Meloni and also visit the Vatican for a meeting with Pope Francis.

There are no details on what Trump and Meloni discussed over lunch at Mar-a-Lago. The elected president briefly commented on the meeting, describing Meloni as a "fantastic woman" who has "conquered Europe."

The Italian Prime Minister, a leader of the right-wing forces, shares similar views with Trump on several issues, particularly regarding immigration. However, Meloni is also a strong supporter of Ukraine. It remains unclear whether the topic of the war in Ukraine was discussed during their meeting.

Reuters and CNN report that Meloni, whose ally – Raffaele Fitto – recently became a member of the European Commission, could potentially be a key partner for Trump in Europe, given their ideological alignment and her good relations with Trump’s key ally, billionaire Elon Musk.
