"If we look at the financial reports that were recently published, the company has shown significant net profits over the three quarters. Additionally, the company is experiencing an increase in cargo traffic, which has been observed during the last period as well," said Vovk.
He emphasized that most Ukrainian enterprises are in a difficult position due to the war and global economic instability, and therefore, in his opinion, "Ukrzaliznytsia" should refrain from raising tariffs to support the development of the Ukrainian economy.
"I see no grounds for raising the issue of increasing tariffs. Especially in a situation where the main sectors that are clients of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' are currently in a very challenging state – both due to the risks of the military period and the unfavorable conditions in external markets. Therefore, I believe that this issue is certainly not relevant at the moment," Vovk stated.
"Ukrzaliznytsia" is proposing to raise the cost of freight transport by 26%, which would overall increase tariffs by 100% since the beginning of the war, reports UNIAN.
