The expert notes that competition with European carriers is inevitable, even considering the shortage of Ukrainian railcars capable of operating on European gauge.
"Europe will come to us with their cars if we provide them with cargo," explains Baranovsky. "What are the chances of survival for UZ in a normal competitive environment when the 85 mm gauge difference disappears? They are approximately the same as those of 'Ukrposhta' against 'Nova Poshta.'

"The company's operational scheme is very simple: when they run out of money, they approach the consumer, gather the 'harvest,' and resolve their issues. But what will happen if they start competing with carriers from the European Union, if everything merges? How is 'Ukrzaliznytsia' preparing for open competition?" noted Igor Golchenko, Vice President of the Union of Chemists of Ukraine.
