In Dnipro, efforts are underway to save the life of a 24-year-old Hero who lost a leg in the war. The young man, Sergey, hails from the city of Romny in the Sumy region and has fallen victim to the harsh realities of war, which have taken not only a part of his body but also inflicted deep emotional scars. Despite the horrific injuries, his spirit remains unbroken, and he is already making plans for a future filled with hope and incredible determination. This was reported by Sergey Ryzhyenko, the head of the Mechnikov Dnipropetrovsk Regional Hospital, as conveyed by "Vedomo".
Sergey, who was a professional in hand-to-hand combat, sustained severe injuries during an artillery strike. His right leg below the knee was literally shattered, leaving almost no soft tissue. Doctors describe the situation as horrifying, but Sergey, according to them, shows remarkable resilience, refusing to succumb to despair.
"A hurricane of feelings, but not a trace of fear or pain. The war took his leg, leaving deep scars on his soul. Sergey, 24 years old, from the city of Romny in the Sumy region. He was a professional in hand-to-hand combat. He received severe limb injuries during the shelling. Only scraps of skin remain on his right leg below the knee," - this is how Sergey Ryzhyenko describes his condition.
Sergey has been admitted to a hospital in Dnipro, where the best specialists are doing everything possible to save his life and restore his health.
Among the medical staff, a particular highlight is a trauma surgeon from Lebanon, who is the same age as Sergey. This doctor holds great respect for Ukrainian defenders and has learned the Ukrainian language to provide medical assistance in the patients' native language. His involvement in Sergey’s treatment is yet another example of international solidarity and support for Ukraine in its struggle against aggression. He personally requested the hospital’s management to allow him to work with Ukrainian soldiers.
Sergey’s case is not just a medical story but a symbol of the unyielding spirit of the Ukrainian people. The war has inflicted profound physical and psychological trauma. But instead of despair and hopelessness, Sergey demonstrates incredible willpower and optimism. He does not lose hope of returning to duty and even dreams of competing in the next Paralympic Games. This ambition and determination are a vivid testament to his exceptional resilience and strong character.
