For the first time in a century, a new tomb of a pharaoh has been discovered in Egypt.

The tomb was excavated by a joint expedition of Egyptian and British archaeologists near the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. Its decoration has been preserved: a blue ceiling adorned with images of yellow stars. Such embellishments were reserved for the burial sites of pharaohs, as noted by the BBC. Additionally, during the excavations, inscriptions containing the names of Thutmose and his wife, Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled the Egyptian kingdom after his death, were found on fragments of alabaster vessels.

No remains of Thutmose himself were found in the tomb. His mummy was discovered by Egyptologists in the 19th century in a different burial site along with the remains of other Egyptian kings and is currently housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It is known that the mummies were relocated from their original burial sites around 1000 BC, but the exact location of Thutmose's original burial has not been determined.

The Egypto-British archaeological mission has been conducting excavations at this site for over two years. The work will continue.
