A Russian national has been arrested in Germany on suspicion of financing ISIS.

The Attorney General of Germany has requested the detention of the suspect.

The arrest warrant states that the Russian national joined a criminal organization in August 2022, which had previously been established by his accomplices. Their goal was to raise funds in Germany and other European countries to finance the "Islamic State."

The money obtained through social media, it is alleged, was sent via couriers to members of the group abroad. The funds were used to support jihadists and female members of the "Islamic State" held in Kurdish camps.

According to the investigation, Zelimkhan D. organized fundraising primarily in the Berlin area and managed a joint donation fund. Overall, his efforts helped raise more than 60,000 euros.
