Law enforcement officials discovered that a 29-year-old soldier was spreading information among his acquaintances that he could influence officials of the RTC and SP and could assist in resolving issues related to the removal of individuals from military registration.
"During the investigative and operational activities, law enforcement documented how the serviceman promised two men of conscription age help in removing their status as 'wanted'. One client from Odessa was charged $500 for the 'service', while another client, who was registered in the region, was charged double that amount," the agency reported.
The employee of the TC was apprehended while receiving money from the resident of Odessa, and tangible evidence was seized – $500, a phone, documentation, and other items of interest to the investigation.
Investigators informed the suspect of charges under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving unlawful benefits for oneself by influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, associated with the demand for unlawful benefits). At the request of the investigators, the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 242,240 UAH.
According to current legislation, the man faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property, as stated in the report.
